If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Pine Hill Road and Route 25 stretch of Lovell River is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. The nature scenery of Carroll     County and the water flowing gracefully down Lovell River make the trip here worthwhile. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other sections to paddle along Lovell River than the Pine Hill Road and Route 25 section. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There's camping available near Lovell River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Lovell River a wet place; through the month of November you get the most rain around here; January meanwhile   is the driest month. Throughout the summertime highs here at Lovell River reach the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Lovell River tend to be in the 0's.
