This stretch of Mascoma River in Grafton County is 0.33 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lebanon, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. And of course, there are     campgrounds nearby. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: From a rainfall point of view Mascoma River is a rather typical place; the month with most of the rain is August; the driest month of the year is   February. Throughout the warm months at Mascoma River highs are commonly in the 70's while nighttime lows are frequently in the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 20's; overnight lows in the-10's for Mascoma River. Nearby Great Hollow is a magnificent place to go if you're at Mascoma River; perfect skiing awaits you at Whaleback.
