The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Manchester-Nashua, as you can see on the road map further down. The Amoskeag Falls to Goffs Falls stretch of Merrimack River in New Hampshire is 5.3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II+(III) section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Hillsborough County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Merrimack River will make you
feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will
have you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Head up to McIntyre and strap some skis to your feet. During the long summer days at Merrimack River highs are generally in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come
with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Merrimack River are in the 10's. Merrimack River sees pretty high levels of rain; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January.
