The Franklin to Penacook section of Merrimack River in New Hampshire is 18 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. info on that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Franklin to Penacook stretch is one of them. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
