New Hampshire whitewater - Mohawk River, Green Mountains, Coos County Coos county, Colebrook section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     8 miles   This stretch of Mohawk River in New Hampshire is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The starting location is a short drive from Berlin, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Coos County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There     aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The river winds through the Green Mountains and you get great scenery. There are no other stretches to paddle along Mohawk River than the Colebrook stretch. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
