A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for
that. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Route 16 to Gorham section is one
of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
