The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Coos County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Peabody River - West Branch beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning
trip. This section of Peabody River - West Branch is 5.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions
for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. When you're paddling down a White Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
