Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New Hampshire are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Grafton/ Belknap County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels |
fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy
| of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Ayers Island dam to Coolidge stretch of Pemigewasset River in New Hampshire is 1.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. The Ayers Island dam to Coolidge stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience. You can pitch a tent or park your RV | |
|
at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start
over and over.
Briefly about the general area: A trip to Rollins State Park when you're here at Pemigewasset River is a great idea, and you'll meet a lot of people from Bristol here. You'll in fact wish for more
hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the White Mountains. A delightful location like Wellington State Beach in close proximity to Pemigewasset River is too glorious to leave out, and the Melton Falls Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close by.
