Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Concord, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Ayers Island dam to Coolidge section is one of many paddling sections in this river
system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty short section so you'd better
be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The natural beauty of New Hampshire and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Ayers Island dam to Coolidge section of Pemigewasset River in Grafton/ Belknap County is 1.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.
