If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New Hampshire are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This section of Pemigewasset River in Grafton County is 4.25 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're
all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
The nature scenery of New Hampshire and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Woodstock section is just one of many. The beauty of the White Mountains is a great plus for this river.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Pemigewasset River. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. All through the
wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Pemigewasset River temperatures drop to the 0's. This river is so perfect. The snow is nice at Loon Mountain. Go for a hike on the Mount Cilley Trail; a cool spot to stop by is Russell
Crag. So much cool stuff to do in the White Mountains, not enough time. Don't leave Pemigewasset River without first going for a hike along the Glover Brook Trail, and since you're here at Pemigewasset River, checking out Parker Ledge is a must.
