county,
Crawford Notch to Bartlett section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 6.2 miles
This section of Saco River is 6.2 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Carroll County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're a camper you can
camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The wild scenery of the White Mountains is great. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature
will make you glad you came. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Crawford Notch to Bartlett section is one of them. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The put-in location is a short drive from Laconia, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
