This stretch of Saco River in New Hampshire is 6.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Crawford Notch to
Bartlett section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire
and the water flowing gracefully down Saco River beats anything. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summer months at Saco River highs are regularly in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and all through the dark
hours in the winter at Saco River temperatures sink to the 0's. Don't leave Saco River without first checking out Hart Ledge, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Razor Brook Trail. Saco River mostly gets a good deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily
August, that's the one that rains the most; January on the other hand is the driest. Just can't get enough of the White Mountains. Saco River is right by the Mount Parker Trail.
