The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of Carroll County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll
find a large number of good rivers. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience. This stretch of Sawyer River in New Hampshire is
3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Sawyer River than the Livermore stretch. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks.
Briefly about the general area: Owls Cliff is an interesting spot to go to while at Sawyer River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Sawyer River; Livermore Trail is a tremendous local trail.
For the duration of the summer months at Sawyer River temperatures are frequently in the 70's; the nighttime is slightly cooler of course, ordinarily in the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Sawyer River. An average
amount of rainfall falls at Sawyer River; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. All year is a tremendous time in the White Mountains if you go for the outdoors. The Mount Tremont Trail offers hiking at its best.
