county,
Route 104 to Bristol section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV 1.75 miles
The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nature scenery of Merrimack / Grafton County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This stretch of Smith River is 1.75 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. This is the only paddling section along Smith River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter
if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a
tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beauty of the White Mountains is a great plus for this river.
