There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This section of Souhegan River in New Hampshire is 5.75 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Briefly about the general area: During the months of summer, highs frequently are in the 70's at Souhegan River. Once the sun is down it descends   down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are regularly in the 30's while Souhegan River night low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. Souhegan River is a pretty wet place regularly with much precipitation; through November this area sees the most rain while September is frequently the driest month. The trees of Russell-Abbott State Forest are a nice source of shade on hot summer days, and going for a hike on the Mitchell Hill Road is always a pleasant adventure.
