The starting location is a reasonable drive from Manchester-Nashua, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Route 31 to Wilton section of Stony Brook in Hillsborough County is 1.25 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Stony Brook are pretty good. This is the only paddling section along Stony     Brook. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New Hampshire are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Mitchell Hill Road is always a wonderful adventure. High temperatures at Stony Brook all through the summer months are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Highs all through the winter are typically in the 20's, and overnight lows at Stony Brook during the wintertime ordinarily sink into the   10's.
