New Hampshire whitewater - Sugar River, Sullivan County Sullivan county, North Newport to Route 103 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     2.8 miles   Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Lebanon, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Sullivan County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The North Newport to Route 103 stretch of Sugar River in Sullivan County is 2.8 miles long and is a class II-III section of     whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Sugar River are pretty good. This is the only paddling stretch along Sugar River. Briefly about the general area: Sugar River gets a common amount of precipitation; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. All through the months of summer at Sugar River highs are commonly in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
