The Suncook dam to Center Barnstead stretch of Suncook River is 2.3 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New Hampshire you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby
campground. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The scenic beauty of Belknap County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Since
you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.

in the 80's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 20's while Suncook River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Suncook River gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February.
