If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Bear Notch Road to Rocky Gorge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Getting your paddling
muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch of Swift River in Carroll/ Grafton County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater.

for a hike along the Swift River Trail. Summertime highs at Swift River ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Swift River.
