The natural beauty of New Hampshire and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch of Swift River is 2.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but
do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, please print out a copy
of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks.
Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Rob Brook Trail, and there's pleasant hiking along the Brunel Trail. Just can't get enough of the White Mountains. The yearly precipitation here at Swift
River is about average; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February. All through the months of summer highs here at Swift River get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Swift River dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights.
