The put-in is not too far from Laconia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of Carroll County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average New Hampshire whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This river system has a few
good paddling stretches and the Rocky Gorge to Lower Falls section is one of them. When you're paddling down a White Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Rocky Gorge to Lower Falls section of Swift River in New Hampshire is 2.6 miles
long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Swift River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
