If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Carroll County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day
paddling trip. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section of Swift River is 5.35 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: If you're here at Swift River, checking out Eagle Ledge is a must, and Attitash Bear Peak is a very popular ski area close at hand. And if that's not
enough there's loads more enjoyable stuff to do in the White Mountains. A cool spot to pop by near Swift River is Haystack; on a great day you can take a hike along the Lucy Brook Trail. This river is a great place to visit. If the weather is pleasant here at Swift River, you
can go for a hike along the White Ledge Trail. At Swift River throughout the summertime months highs are in the 50's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's; during the dark
hours in the winter at Swift River temperatures descend to the-10's. Swift River gets a large amount of water; the month with most of the snow is November while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
