The starting point is not too far from Concord, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Upper stretch of Winnipesaukee River is 2.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of     the sections here are not safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
