This stretch of Winnipesaukee River in New Hampshire is 1.25 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The wonderful Belknap / Merrimack County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is an extremely short section so better bring some good walking shoes. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Cross Mill bridge road to Franklin
section is one of them. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There's camping available
near Winnipesaukee River. If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience.
