The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The Cross Mill bridge road to Franklin stretch of Winnipesaukee River in Belknap / Merrimack County is 1.25 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Winnipesaukee River are pretty good. Whether
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This
stretch is very short so no need to bring snacks. The wild scenery of the White Mountains is great. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
