This stretch of Wonalancet is 4.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. The average New Hampshire whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The natural beauty of Carroll County and the water flowing gracefully down Wonalancet make the trip here worthwhile. There are no other stretches to paddle along Wonalancet than the Route 113A to Tamworth stretch. When you're paddling down a White Mountains
river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This
stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The put-in location is a short drive from Laconia, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: At Wonalancet during the warm days of summer highs are in the 50's. When the night
sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 10's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Wonalancet dip into the-10's. This river is a great place to visit. The Chinock is next to Wonalancet
and is absolutely a perfect place to pop by, and there's tremendous hiking along the Chocorua Brook Trail. Be careful coming to the White Mountains, you might not ever wanna go back home again. Interesting geology is available here; Lunt Ledge is near Wonalancet, and the Bickford
Trail offers hiking at its best. Wonalancet generally gets a large amount of rain; all through the month of November you get the most snow around here; July on the other hand is the driest.
