The scenic beauty of Hunterdon Somerset County and the water flowing gracefully down Raritan River - South Branch beats anything. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New     Jersey tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you're coming from Trenton-Ewing it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
