This section of Rockaway River in New Jersey is 0.7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The wonderful New Jersey scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll
find a large number of good spots. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Below Falls to Route 287 stretch is one of them. The rivers for
whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy.
