rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Mountainville to McCrea Mills section is one
of them. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: Rockaway Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; most of the rain falls all through August, and the driest of the months is February. During the summertime at Rockaway Creek highs are mostly in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows at Rockaway Creek during the winter usually descend into the 10's.
