  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Farmington, as you can see on the road map further down. The average New Mexico whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The beautiful scenery of San Juan County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have
    to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are
so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cedar Hill to Farmington City Park section is just one of many. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The Cedar Hill to Farmington City Park stretch of Animas River in San Juan County is 25 miles long and is  
according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of people from Flora Vista here, and Aztec Ruins National Monument is one of the destinations that are good to take a look at nearby. Summertime highs at Animas River mostly tend to be in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 0's for Animas River.
