The natural beauty of New Mexico and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Farmington, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're     a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The Cedar Hill to Farmington City Park section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: All our national parks are great sites to pop by, and Aztec Ruins National Monument is no exception. All through the months of summer at Animas River temperatures are frequently in the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 40's. All through   the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 30's while Animas River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Animas River is a location that is quite dry commonly; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
