If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Farmington Whitewater Park section is one of them. For all you     camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. Briefly about the general area: What would a site like Animas River be without out of the ordinary nearby marks like Shannon Bluffs. Here at Animas River there are plenty of people from Farmington, and since you're here, you might as well have a look at Mine Canyon. At Animas River you don’t see much rain; during the month of October you get the most rain around here, and June on the other hand is the driest. Summertime   highs at Animas River ordinarily tend to be in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Animas River are in the 10's.
