Chromo Colorado to Colorado Border section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 20 miles
Would anyone there know the overall, source-to-mouth length of the Navajo River? I am compiling a reference book of world rivers. Thank you. SCRIVENERLLM@YAHOO.COM Says Larry L. Miller
The nature scenery of New Mexico and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before
you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The average New Mexico whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other
states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This section of Navajo River in New Mexico is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains is a great experience. The Chromo Colorado to Colorado Border stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
