CLASS II 20 miles
Would anyone there know the overall, source-to-mouth length of the Navajo River? I am compiling a reference book of world rivers. Thank you. SCRIVENERLLM@YAHOO.COM Says Larry L. Miller
The Chromo Colorado to Colorado Border section of Navajo River is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of New Mexico and the water flowing gracefully down Navajo River beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that
lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Chromo Colorado to Colorado Border section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. When you're paddling down a San Juan and Jemez Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds
nearby.
