This stretch of Rio Grande in New Mexico is 24 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The natural beauty of New Mexico and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping
stuff. There's camping available near Rio Grande. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New Mexico are easier

The winter comes with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Rio Grande. It is very dehydrated here at Rio Grande mostly; most of the rain falls throughout August while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
