  The nature scenery of Taos County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Mexico is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Rio
    Grande in Taos County is 24 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
