Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. San Antonio River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lagunitas to Los Pinos stretch is the only one. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. The nature scenery of New Mexico and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Lagunitas to Los Pinos stretch of San Antonio River is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer
whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: San Antonio River is a location that is relatively dehydrated generally; July is when you get the most rain here; January meanwhile is the driest month. For the period of the
summer months, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at San Antonio River. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the-10's for San Antonio River.
