The beautiful scenery of New Mexico and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the San Juan and Jemez Mountains and you get great scenery. The Lagunitas to Los Pinos stretch is the only paddling stretch along San Antonio River. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no
problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average New Mexico whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The Lagunitas
to Los Pinos stretch of San Antonio River in New Mexico is 20 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that.
