This stretch of San Francisco River in New Mexico is 40 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers
here are less demanding. When you're paddling down a San Francisco Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. A stretch of this length does require some
preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The campgrounds here at San Francisco River are pretty good. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Lower San Francisco Hot Springs to Clifton Arizona stretch is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots.
