CLASS II-III 40 miles
The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Mexico are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The nature scenery of New Mexico and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This section of San Francisco River is 40 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Whitewater paddling
here in the San Francisco Mountains is a great experience. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
