county,
San Francisco to Pleasanton section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 40 miles
This stretch of San Francisco River in Catron County is 40 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Catron County and the water flowing gracefully down San Francisco River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting
here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful San Francisco Mountains scenery
is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The San Francisco to Pleasanton section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so better bring your camping gear along.
