Navajo Dam to Four Corners section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 50 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Mexico is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The wonderful San Juan County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Navajo Dam to Four Corners stretch of San Juan River in New Mexico is 50 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. There's camping available near San Juan River. When you're paddling down a Mesa
Verde river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and just being out on
the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The Navajo Dam to Four Corners section is the only paddling section along San Juan River. The starting location is a short drive from Farmington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Now this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.
