The High Falls Gorge to Flume section of Ausable River - West Branch in Essex County is 2 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
The High Falls Gorge to Flume stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are
harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners.
