This stretch of Balm of Gilead Brook in Warren County is 2.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Warren County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. There's camping available near Balm
of Gilead Brook. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or
kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are no other stretches to paddle along Balm of Gilead Brook than the Barton Mines Road to Hudson River stretch.
