The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. The Barton Mines Road to Hudson River section is the only paddling section along Balm of Gilead Brook.
