Columbia / Berkshire
county,
Below Bash Bish Falls to Copake Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV-V+ 0.6 miles
The beautiful scenery of Columbia / Berkshire County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Hudson it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Not
too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Below Bash Bish Falls to Copake Falls section is the only paddling section
along Bash Bish Brook. This stretch of Bash Bish Brook is 0.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
