The Swartout Road Bridge to Freehold stretch of Basic Creek is 10.3 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The Swartout Road Bridge to Freehold stretch is the only paddling stretch along Basic Creek.
