  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Glens Falls, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater
    rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The Greenwich to Hudson River stretch of Batten Kill River in Washington County is 9 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater
according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful scenery of Washington County and the beautiful way the water current moves  
down the stream have people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
If you're popping by Batten Kill River from Greenwich, you won't be the only one, and you can spend the day on the beach at Haviland Cove Beach. Gotta ski! Willard Mountain is a pleasant place to do that. Through the long summer days at Batten Kill River temperatures are regularly in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Batten Kill River are in the 0's. The amount of rain that falls at Batten Kill River is close to the national average.
