New York whitewater, Beaver River

Lewis county, Moshier Section section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V     3 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch of Beaver River in Lewis County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The nature scenery of Lewis County and
the water flowing gracefully down Beaver River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Moshier Section section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Great exercise and a chance to spend
some time outdoors will make you glad you came. If you're coming from Ogdensburg-Massena it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
