  The nature scenery of Lewis County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Beaver River in Lewis County is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in
    mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Taylorville Section section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but
if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Briefly about the general area:
The yearly rainfall here at Beaver River is about average; the month with most of the rain is August, and February is when it's the driest.
At Beaver River through the summer highs are in the 80's, and the night is somewhat cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Beaver River temperatures descend to the 0's.
