If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The Turnwood to East Branch stretch is the only paddling stretch     along Beaver Kill River. The wonderful New York scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wild scenery of the Catskill Mountains is great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Beaver Kill River; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Beaver   Kill River. Beaver Kill River is a reasonably wet place mostly with a lot of rainfall; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February.
