Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The scenic beauty of Ulster County and the water flowing gracefully down Beaver Kill River have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling stretch along Beaver Kill River. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Kingston, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and spending
some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Beaver Kill River is 4.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the months of summer here at Beaver Kill River, high temperatures typically get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's,
