The Airport Road to Great Sacandaga Lake stretch of Beecher Creek is 2.5 miles long and is a class II-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of New York and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Airport Road to Great Sacandaga Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Beecher Creek. more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The campgrounds here at Beecher Creek are pretty good. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive
| a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes.
Briefly about the general area: Through the warm months at Beecher Creek highs are typically in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Beecher Creek descend into the 0's.
