This section of Beer Kill River - West Branch is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The wonderful Ulster County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.
