The scenic beauty of Herkimer County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Farr Road to Enos section of Black River in New York is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class I-V section by American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or
both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The Farr Road to Enos section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming from Utica-Rome it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip.

River is right by the Stone Dam Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Black River a wet spot; the wettest month of the year is typically August, that's the one that rains the most; February meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Black River during
the warm days of summer are in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Black River tend to be in the 0's. Hiking along the Forty Mountain Trail is brilliant fun, and a short visit to Mulchy Spring is always worthwhile.
