The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The nature scenery of Herkimer/ Oneida County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There's camping available near     Black River. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. The Enos to Route 72 section of Black River in Herkimer/ Oneida County is 6 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
