If you're coming from Utica-Rome it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. The nature scenery of Oneida County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Hawkinsville     to Norton Road section is just one of them. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip.
