This stretch of Black River is 1 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. This is an extremely short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Route 3 Wave stretch is one of them. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 70's at Black River. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Black River. The annual rainfall here at Black River is about average;   the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Rutland Hollow is close to Black River and is beyond doubt a delightful place to take a look at, and a day on the slopes of Dry Hill is just what you need.
