  The natural beauty of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Malone, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. This is one
    of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are
campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This section of Bog River is 7.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section,  
it's good length for a morning trip. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery.

Briefly about the general area:
People from Long Lake love to come to Bog River; on a beautiful day you can stop at Silver Beach. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Bog River. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Bog River tend to be in the 0's. Bog River is a reasonably wet place frequently with a good deal of rain.
