New York whitewater - Bog River, Adirondack Mountains, St. Lawrence County St. Lawrence county, Lows Lower Dam to Tupper Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-V     7.2 miles   This section of Bog River is 7.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. The Lows Lower Dam to Tupper Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Bog River. The campgrounds here at Bog River are pretty good. If you've been out of state whitewater     rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer highs here at Bog River get into the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are regularly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Bog River are in the 0's.
