The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch of Boquet River in Essex County is 17.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The wonderful New York scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Beaver Meadow Brook to Northway section is just one of many. Getting some good exercise and just being out
on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The beautiful Adirondack Mountains scenery is an added bonus. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. The put-in is not too far from Plattsburgh, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
