If you're coming from Plattsburgh it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Essex County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Beaver Meadow Brook to Northway stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some
time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep
in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Boquet River with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Boquet River temperatures fall
to the 0's. Boquet River gets a normal amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Pleasant Valley is next to Boquet River and is a splendid spot; while you're here you can take a hike along the Rocky Peak Ridge-Route 9N - East Trail.
