The beautiful scenery of Essex County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The Beaver Meadow Brook to Northway stretch of Boquet River in Essex County is 17.6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.
The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: Boquet River is close to Pleasant Valley which is beyond doubt worth going to. At Boquet River during
the summertime highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's with temperatures at Boquet River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. An average amount of rain falls at Boquet River; most of the rain falls through August while February is regularly the driest month.
